Turkmenistan Upgrades Gas Pipelines to Boost Domestic Supply and Exports

Turkmenistan is launching a major modernization of its gas pipeline network to ensure stable domestic supply and reliable exports.

Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, Batyr Amanov, briefed President Serdar Berdimuhamedov on ongoing efforts by the state-owned company Türkmengaz. The upgrades focus on strengthening production facilities and improving key pipeline infrastructure to make gas deliveries more reliable both within the country and to international markets.

President Berdimuhamedov emphasized the importance of maintaining uninterrupted domestic gas supply and dependable exports. He approved the modernization plan and instructed officials to implement it without delay.

Turkmenistan’s pipeline network includes major routes to China, Russia, and Iran. The Central Asia–China Pipeline, carrying up to 55 billion cubic meters per year, will be expanded with Line D. Exports to Russia via the Central Asia–Center Pipeline have resumed since 2019, while two pipelines serve Iran, with a gas swap agreement also enabling deliveries to Azerbaijan.

The project reflects Turkmenistan’s commitment to energy security and its role as a reliable gas supplier in the region.
