The United States has shown readiness to remove sanctions affecting Iran’s oil sector as part of a new proposal presented to Tehran during ongoing negotiations, according to Tasnim News Agency.
The report, citing a source close to the Iranian delegation, said Washington’s updated draft includes plans to ease restrictions on Iran’s fuel exports. However, Iranian officials insist that any agreement must involve the lifting of all sanctions imposed on the country.
In response, Iran submitted a revised 14-point proposal to the United States aimed at de-escalating tensions. The document was delivered through Pakistan, which is serving as a mediator between both sides.
A Pakistani source confirmed that the updated proposal had been transmitted to Washington as part of efforts to reach a final understanding and prevent further escalation.
Despite these diplomatic exchanges, progress remains uncertain. Reuters reported that discussions between the two countries are still strained, with both sides frequently adjusting their positions.
Concerns have also grown following recent public remarks by Donald Trump, which observers say could complicate the fragile negotiation process.
A source involved in the talks stressed the urgency of the situation, noting that time is limited as both sides continue to review and revise their terms.
The development points to a possible shift in the diplomatic approach, though major disagreements over the full removal of sanctions remain unresolved between Washington and Tehran.
