Venezuelan Leader to Visit India for Oil Talks

Venezuela is set to send a delegation to India next week for discussions focused on crude oil sales, in a move that reflects changing global energy flows and shifting diplomatic ties.

The announcement was made by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who said the planned visit signals growing engagement between Caracas and New Delhi as countries adjust to disruptions in global oil supply chains.

At the centre of the trip is Venezuela’s interim president, Delcy Rodriguez, who is expected to hold talks aimed at expanding oil exports to India, one of the world’s largest energy importers.

India has been looking for alternative sources of crude amid tightening supply conditions linked to broader geopolitical tensions, including reduced availability from traditional suppliers. The country relies heavily on imports to meet its rising energy demand.

Venezuela, which holds the world’s largest proven oil reserves, is seeking to strengthen its position in the global market by attracting new buyers and rebuilding its export capacity after years of economic and political strain.

The discussions are also seen as part of a wider effort by Caracas to deepen international partnerships in the energy sector, while Washington signals interest in expanding global oil supply options for strategic allies.
