NNPC positions itself as Africa’s energy ecosystem builder

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd.) has outlined a broader vision for its future, saying it aims to become an energy ecosystem builder that connects investment, technology, policy, talent and markets to drive sustainable energy development across Africa.

Group Chief Executive Officer, Bayo Ojulari, stated this while reflecting on the company’s participation at the 2026 Nigeria Oil and Gas (NOG) Energy Week, where key industry stakeholders met to discuss investment opportunities, energy security, gas development and the future of Africa’s energy sector.

According to Ojulari, NNPC’s transformation goes beyond its traditional role as an oil and gas producer. He said the company is focused on fostering partnerships that will attract investment, encourage innovation and create long-term value for Nigeria and the wider African energy market.

He noted that this new direction will guide NNPC’s engagement with investors, technology providers, policymakers and other stakeholders, with the goal of accelerating energy development across the continent.

Ojulari also highlighted the company’s activities during the week-long conference, describing the event as an opportunity to strengthen collaboration and reinforce NNPC’s vision for Africa’s evolving energy landscape.

Since its transition into a commercially driven company under the Petroleum Industry Act, NNPC Ltd. has continued to pursue reforms aimed at improving operational efficiency, expanding strategic partnerships and strengthening its position in Africa’s energy industry.

The Federal Government has identified the energy sector as a key driver of economic growth, with ongoing reforms focused on attracting investment, increasing oil and gas production, expanding domestic gas utilisation and positioning Nigeria as a leading energy hub in Africa.
