Mainpower, the electricity distribution company responsible for power supply in parts of Enugu State, has issued a stern warning to residents over unpaid electricity bills.
In a statement released on Saturday, the company announced that customers in Abakpa, Awkunanaw, Nsukka, and Ogui districts risk immediate disconnection if they fail to settle their outstanding bills.
“Customers are to pay their bills before the disconnection team gets to their premises and not wait for marketers to visit before they pay to avoid payment of a reconnection fee,” the company stated.
The electricity provider emphasized the importance of timely payments, explaining that “the current energy bill, which is for energy consumed in the previous month, is expected to be paid by the 15th day of the succeeding month.
“To ease the burden on those with large arrears, the company highlighted an incentive: “Customers with arrears are encouraged to clear their bills or take advantage of the discount scheme known as the Accelerated Settlement of Arrears Project (ASAP).”
According to Mainpower, payments can be made at its cash offices or authorized collection agent locations.
The company’s notice serves as a reminder for electricity users in the affected areas to act fast or face disconnection and possible reconnection fees.
