Nigeria’s Crude Oil Production Hits 1.48 Million Barrels Per Day in April

Nigeria’s crude oil production rose to 1.48 million barrels per day (bpd) in April 2025, marking a steady increase from 1.40 million bpd in March, the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) has reported.

According to the NUPRC’s April report, this production level represents 99 percent of Nigeria’s 1.5 million bpd quota set by the Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC).

“The average crude oil production was 99 per cent of the OPEC quota (1.5 mbopd),” the commission stated.Including condensates, total daily oil output averaged 1.68 million barrels per day in April, with the highest daily output reaching 1.73 million bpd and the lowest at 1.60 million bpd.

This is an improvement from March, when production averaged 93 percent of the OPEC quota. The report highlights ongoing efforts to stabilize oil production through reforms and increased security measures.

Pipeline Infrastructure Nigeria Limited (PINL) has played a key role by securing the Trans Niger Pipeline, ensuring full throughput to the Bonny export terminal.

During a recent stakeholders’ meeting in Yenagoa, PINL received praise for involving local communities in pipeline security and social responsibility initiatives, which have contributed to higher production levels.

Ojukaye Flag-Amachree, Director of Energy Security in the Office of the National Security Adviser (NSA), expressed optimism about Nigeria’s production goals.

Represented by Mr. Young-Harry Amakiri, he said: “With the collaboration of relevant stakeholders, the 2.5-million daily crude oil production target of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration is achievable.”

The encouraging production figures and collaborative security efforts signal positive momentum for Nigeria’s oil industry as it works toward meeting national and OPEC targets.
