No Oil Available for International Markets — Iranian Ministry of Petroleum

Iran’s Ministry of Petroleum has stated that the country currently has no surplus or floating crude oil available for export to international markets.

Spokesperson Saman Qoddusi responded to recent U.S. claims suggesting that sanctions on Iranian oil at sea might soon be lifted to help lower global prices. Qoddusi said these statements are aimed more at influencing market expectations than reflecting actual supply.

U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent had previously mentioned that around 140 million barrels of Iranian oil could be released if sanctions were eased, potentially reducing crude prices within 10 to 14 days. Qoddusi, however, confirmed that Iran does not have extra oil ready for sale.
