Azerbaijan Minister Meets OPEC Secretary General to Discuss Oil Market Stability

Azerbaijan’s Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov met with OPEC Secretary General Haitham Al Ghais on the sidelines of Baku Energy Week to discuss ongoing collaboration and the future of the global oil market.

Both officials expressed satisfaction with Azerbaijan’s active role within the OPEC+ framework, praising the country’s contribution to stabilizing global oil prices. “Azerbaijan plays a crucial role in stabilizing the oil market amid rising global energy demand,” they noted.

Secretary General Al Ghais also commended Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev’s pragmatic approach to energy development, emphasizing the importance of sustained investments in hydrocarbons. The meeting covered key topics including global oil market trends, the fulfillment of production commitments by OPEC and non-OPEC countries, and the future position of oil in the global energy balance.

Looking ahead, OPEC invited Azerbaijan to participate in the upcoming OPEC International Seminar scheduled for July.

This meeting underscores Azerbaijan’s growing influence in global energy discussions and its commitment to supporting a balanced and stable oil market.
