Dangote Refinery Launches Hotline to Stop Petrol Overpricing at N739 per Litre

Dangote Petroleum Refinery has rolled out a nationwide hotline for Nigerians to report any MRS Oil Nigeria Plc filling station selling Premium Motor Spirit (petrol) above the approved price of N739 per litre.

The move is part of the refinery’s effort to ensure fair pricing, transparency, and consumer protection across more than 2,000 MRS stations nationwide.

According to the company, the hotline 0800123 5264 is active immediately and allows consumers to report violations quickly.

The refinery also stressed that attempts to create artificial fuel scarcity are unacceptable. With a daily supply of up to 50 million litres of petrol, Dangote Refinery said it is committed to keeping prices stable and accessible, especially during the festive season.

“Consumers should avoid paying more for petrol when high-quality, locally refined fuel is available at the regulated N739 per litre. We encourage the public to report stations that charge above this price,” the refinery said in a statement.

Dangote Petroleum also highlighted the broader benefits of local refining, noting that it reduces reliance on imported fuel, strengthens energy security, conserves foreign exchange, and helps stabilise the naira.

Regulatory authorities were urged to monitor the market closely and take action against operators who attempt to manipulate supply or frustrate price reductions, the refinery added.
