Dangote Refinery Opens N2.15tn Share Offer to Investors

The Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals has opened its N2.15tn Initial Public Offering, giving investors an opportunity to acquire shares in the 650,000-barrel-per-day refinery.

The public offer commenced on Monday, September 14, 2026, with 4.1 billion new ordinary shares priced at N525 each. Investors can subscribe for a minimum of 10 shares, requiring N5,250.

The offer is scheduled to close on October 13, 2026, subject to the conditions contained in the prospectus. It is open to retail and institutional investors as well as eligible investors across Africa.

Dangote Refinery said the proceeds from the share sale would be used to support its expansion, long-term operations and strategic investments, while creating additional value for shareholders.

The offer will be formally launched at the Nigerian Exchange in Lagos, marking the refinery’s entry into the public equity market.

Dangote Industries Limited President and Chief Executive, Aliko Dangote, said the share sale would allow Nigerians and other investors to participate in the growth of the refinery.

He said the initiative was also intended to widen ownership of the business and promote greater participation in Nigeria’s capital market.

Nigerian Exchange Group Chief Executive Officer, Temi Popoola, described the offering as significant for the country’s capital market, noting that broader access to major Nigerian businesses could increase public participation in wealth creation.

Investors can subscribe through approved channels, including NGX Invest, designated commercial banks and authorised investment platforms, in line with the terms of the prospectus.

Since beginning commercial operations, the refinery has supplied refined petroleum products to Nigerian and international markets and has been positioned by the company as a key asset for improving energy security and reducing dependence on imported refined products.
