The Dangote Refinery has announced that it will begin its long-awaited free fuel distribution programme on Monday, starting with several key states.
According to the company’s spokesperson, Anthony Chiejina, the rollout will cover Lagos and other South-West states, along with the Federal Capital Territory, Kwara, Delta, Rivers, and Edo.
As part of the initiative, petrol pump prices will also see reductions, with the South-West to purchase at N841 per litre and Abuja, Edo, Kwara, Rivers, and Delta at N851 per litre. The refinery confirmed the new prices will take effect the same day the free distribution kicks off.
The scheme, which was originally scheduled for August but delayed due to logistics challenges in China, is now ready to commence after the arrival of more than 1,000 trucks. Additional states are expected to be included as the refinery expands its distribution fleet.
Dangote Group also revealed that it is rolling out 10,000 CNG-powered trucks this year to strengthen its logistics network and reduce costs, despite recent spikes in CNG prices.
With this programme, the refinery aims not only to ease fuel costs but also to enhance supply stability across the country.
