The chairman of the Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote, has met with Yousef bin Mohammed Al-Balawi, Saudi Arabia’s envoy to Nigeria, to explore fresh investment prospects in energy and infrastructure.
The discussion took place at the ambassador’s residence in Abuja’s diplomatic district and focused on expanding economic cooperation between Nigeria and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia across strategic sectors.
During the engagement, Al-Balawi described the meeting as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen economic relations between both countries, particularly in areas such as industry, energy development, and large-scale infrastructure. He noted that the dialogue also reviewed outcomes from Dangote’s recent visit to Saudi Arabia and examined potential opportunities available to his companies within the kingdom.
The envoy further highlighted prospects for Saudi investors to partner with businesses under the Dangote Group in Nigeria, signalling interest in mutually beneficial collaborations.
As part of the visit, the ambassador hosted Dangote to a dinner and presented a commemorative gift in recognition of the growing ties.
Beyond corporate investment, the Saudi diplomat praised development efforts within Nigeria’s Federal Capital Territory and expressed interest in cooperation on urban planning, sustainability, and green city initiatives. He commended the current administration for its drive toward environmentally conscious city development and said Saudi authorities are open to exchanging ideas and expertise in that area.
