Davido joins Dangote as refinery IPO gets Times Square spotlight

Afrobeats star Davido has joined businessman Aliko Dangote in New York as the ongoing public offering of Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals received international exposure in Times Square.

A Nasdaq billboard in the busy New York landmark displayed the message, “Made in Nigeria. Built for the World,” promoting the Nigerian refinery’s public offering.

Davido shared a video of the moment on social media, showing him and Dangote pointing towards the billboard while a small crowd watched nearby.

The appearance comes as Dangote’s refinery IPO, which began on September 14, 2026, continues ahead of its October 13 closing date.

The offer comprises 4.1 billion shares priced at N525 each. Investors can subscribe for a minimum of 10 shares, requiring an initial investment of N5,250.

The offering is available to Nigerian and eligible African retail and institutional investors and could generate about N2.15tn if all the shares are subscribed.

Speaking in the video, Dangote said the listing was designed to broaden participation in the ownership of Nigerian businesses and create wider opportunities for wealth creation across Africa.

He also indicated that the refinery would not be the only Dangote business to be listed, saying the group plans to pursue public offerings for other businesses, including its fertiliser operations.

The Dangote refinery, located in Lekki, Lagos, produces petroleum products including petrol, diesel, aviation fuel and liquefied petroleum gas.

Davido’s appearance alongside Dangote in New York has brought additional public attention to the refinery’s share offer as Nigerian personalities and business leaders participate in events around the United Nations General Assembly.
