Drone Strike Triggers Fire at UAE Gas Field

A large gas facility in the United Arab Emirates was set ablaze following a drone attack, authorities in Abu Dhabi confirmed.

The incident occurred at the Shah gas field, one of the country’s most significant energy sites, located deep in the Rub’ al Khali desert. Emergency responders were quickly deployed to contain the fire, and officials reported that no injuries or fatalities were recorded.

The Shah field is operated through a partnership between the state-owned Abu Dhabi National Oil Company and U.S.-based Occidental Petroleum. The facility is known for producing high-sulfur gas, making it a key component of the UAE’s energy output.

This latest attack adds to a growing pattern of strikes targeting oil and gas infrastructure across the Gulf region. Tensions have escalated in recent weeks, with increased drone and missile activity linked to the broader conflict involving Iran and its regional adversaries.

Just days earlier, another drone-related incident forced a temporary shutdown at the Ruwais refinery, while operations at the strategic port of Fujairah were also partially disrupted.

Authorities have not yet disclosed who was responsible for the latest strike, but investigations are ongoing as efforts continue to secure critical energy infrastructure in the region.
