Oil giant has changed its corporate name to ExxonMobil Holdings Corp. after completing its relocation from New Jersey to Texas.
The company said the change takes effect on Thursday, when all existing Exxon shares will be exchanged on a one-for-one basis for shares in the new holding company. The stock will continue trading under its existing XOM ticker, meaning there will be no change for investors in how the shares are traded.
The move follows shareholder approval at the company’s annual meeting in May, clearing the way for the company to redomicile in Texas and adopt the new holding company structure.
The renaming is the first change to the company’s corporate name since the merger of Exxon and Mobil more than 25 years ago.
