The federal government has successfully brokered peace between Sterling Oil Exploration & Energy Production Company Limited (SEEPCO) and the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN), ending a months-long industrial dispute.

According to a statement released on Tuesday, SEEPCO confirmed that both parties had reached a “constructive and amicable resolution” on all outstanding issues during a government-facilitated engagement held on June 4, 2025.

A source in the Ministry of Petroleum Resources said the breakthrough followed several rounds of meetings held since the beginning of the year, under the supervision of relevant government agencies.

“This agreement reflects our shared commitment to promoting industrial harmony, supporting national production goals, and enhancing the wellbeing of oil and gas workers,” SEEPCO said.

The company also reaffirmed its commitment to regulatory compliance, local capacity development, and maintaining open dialogue with stakeholders.

“In the spirit of mutual respect and long-term collaboration, both parties have reaffirmed their commitment to internal resolution of matters and proactive engagement in addressing future issues,” the statement added.

SEEPCO expressed gratitude to PENGASSAN’s leadership and key government institutions, including the Ministry of Labour and Employment, the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC), and the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC) for their roles in ensuring the peaceful resolution.

“This resolution marks a positive step toward strengthening trust and cooperation across the industry,” SEEPCO noted, emphasizing its continued support for Nigeria’s energy development through “sustainable and inclusive practices.”
