Gas Investment Forum 2026 Holds in Lagos September 29

Industry leaders, investors and government officials are expected to gather in Lagos for the fourth edition of the Gas Investment Forum 2026.

The two-day event will take place at the Oriental Hotel, Lagos, from September 29 to 30, with stakeholders expected to discuss investment opportunities and strategies for expanding Nigeria’s gas industry.

The forum, themed “Positioning Nigeria as Africa’s Global Gas Powerhouse,” will bring together regulators, energy companies, financiers, project developers, technology providers and other professionals across the gas value chain.

Organisers said the event comes at a crucial time as Nigeria seeks to increase gas production, develop infrastructure, support industrial growth and strengthen energy security.

Data from the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission showed that Nigeria had 215.19 trillion cubic feet of gas reserves as of January 1, 2026.

A key issue at the forum will be the funding required to develop the country’s gas resources. The Gas Master Plan 2026 targets national gas production of 10 billion cubic feet per day by 2027 and 12 billion cubic feet per day by 2030. It also aims to attract more than $60 billion in new investment across the oil and gas value chain by 2030.

Director of Events at the Gas Investment Forum, Osaze Isesele, said Nigeria’s challenge was to turn its large gas reserves into viable projects, dependable infrastructure and increased economic activity.

He said the forum would provide an opportunity for government, regulators, investors, financiers, operators and technical experts to identify opportunities, address investment barriers and develop partnerships to accelerate growth in the sector.

Discussions at the event will cover gas exploration and production, infrastructure development, gas commercialisation, LNG, LPG, CNG, gas-to-power, domestic gas utilisation, financing and local content.

Senior officials expected at the forum include Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Gas), Ekperikpe Ekpo; Nigerian Gas Association President, Yetunde Taiwo; Decade of Gas Coordinating Director, Ed Ubong; International Gas Union President, Andrea Stegher; and NUPRC Executive Commissioner for Development and Production, Enorense Amadasu.

Chairman of the Senate Committee on Gas Resources, Senator Jarigbe Agom Jarigbe, is also expected to attend.

Other industry leaders expected include Wole Ogunsanya of the Petroleum Technology Association of Nigeria, Olajumoke Cecilia Ajayi of West African Exploration and Production Company, and Paul Eardley-Taylor of Standard Bank Group.

Representatives from Savannah Energy, Greenville LNG, Oando Energy Resources, Sahara Group, Seplat Energy, Shell Nigeria Gas, NNPC Gas Marketing Limited and several other companies and industry organisations are also expected.

The organisers said the forum would promote business connections and collaboration among investors, project developers, financiers, regulators and other players in the gas industry.
