The Soku community in Rivers State has debunked social media reports claiming an explosion at the Soku Gas Plant.

Witness Alasia, Secretary of the Soku Community Development Committee, confirmed there was a fire outbreak on the pipeline, but assured the public there was no explosion and that the plant remains safe.

Shell Petroleum Development Company also refuted the claims, stating there was no incident at the plant, and emphasized its divestment of assets to Renaissance Africa Energy Company.

Both local authorities and Shell have reassured the public that Soku and surrounding areas are calm and unaffected.
