Go Home and Face EFCC Now! – Nigerians Protest in UK Demanding Mele Kyari Deportation

Nigerians in the United Kingdom gathered outside the Nigerian High Commission and the UK Home Office on Monday, calling for the deportation of Mele Kyari, the former Group CEO of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), to face corruption charges in Nigeria.

Under the banner of Rescue Nigeria Now, the protesters displayed placards with messages like “Mele Kyari go home and face EFCC now!” and “Withdraw Mele Kyari’s residency now!” They also submitted formal petitions, accusing Kyari of fleeing Nigeria to avoid accountability for alleged financial misconduct during his tenure at NNPC from 2019 to 2025.

In a letter addressed to Nigerian High Commissioner Sarafa Tunji Isola, the group demanded Kyari’s return, stating, “This letter is not merely a petition—it is a demand—a moral, civic, and nationalistic demand.

“The protesters urged the UK to honor international anti-corruption agreements, insisting that Kyari be sent back to Nigeria to face the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and recover stolen funds for the nation’s recovery and development.
