Heirs Holdings brings in Sola Yomi-Ajayi, Obinna Ufudo as new board members

Heirs Holdings has appointed Sola Yomi-Ajayi and Obinna Ufudo as non-executive directors, strengthening its board with decades of experience spanning finance, energy, governance, and global markets.

In a statement released on Sunday, the pan-African investment company said the new appointments reflect its commitment to deepening leadership capacity as it expands its proprietary investment portfolio across the continent.

Yomi-Ajayi brings more than three decades of experience in financial services, regulatory engagement, corporate governance, and enterprise risk management. She previously served as an executive director at United Bank for Africa (UBA), where she also held roles as chief executive officer for the bank’s international business and country CEO for UBA America.

She currently sits on the boards of UBA United Kingdom and the Business Council for International Understanding, and is part of the executive consultation group of the OECD Blue Dot Network. Her past roles include membership of the US Export-Import Bank’s Sub-Saharan Africa advisory committee and trusteeship at the Institute of International Banking in the United States.

Her academic and professional qualifications include an MBA from Aberdeen Business School, Robert Gordon University, fellowships and memberships with leading management bodies in the UK, as well as executive education in corporate governance and leadership from Wharton and Harvard business schools.

Ufudo, on his part, offers over 30 years of leadership experience across banking, investments, energy, and corporate transformation. He previously served as executive director and chief operating officer at Heirs Holdings and later became president and group CEO of Transnational Corporation of Nigeria (Transcorp).

During his tenure at Transcorp, he oversaw a major corporate turnaround and led the acquisition of the Ughelli Power Plant, one of Nigeria’s largest power assets. He is also the founder and chairman of Atiat Leasing Limited and co-founder and chairman of LoanBook Limited.

His educational background includes executive and postgraduate qualifications from Wharton School, the University of Reading, and IESE Business School. He is also a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria.

Commenting on the appointments, Tony Elumelu, chairman of Heirs Holdings, said the addition of Yomi-Ajayi and Ufudo brings proven leadership, deep industry knowledge, and strong governance expertise that will support the group’s long-term growth strategy across Africa.
