Petrol stations in Ibadan, Oyo State, have not lowered their pump prices despite a recent reduction announced by the Dangote Refinery.
The refinery earlier reduced its gantry price for petrol by ₦100 per litre, bringing it down to ₦1,075 from the previous ₦1,175. The adjustment was announced on Tuesday and also applied to diesel.
However, checks across several parts of Ibadan showed that filling stations are still selling petrol at previous rates more than 20 hours after the refinery’s announcement.
Many stations had earlier raised their pump prices from around ₦1,230 to about ₦1,300 per litre on Monday. As of Wednesday, those prices had largely remained unchanged.
Visits to different locations in the city including the University of Ibadan area, Bodija, Sango, Eleyele Road, Apete, Ijokodo, and Awotan confirmed that fuel prices were still the same at most stations.
Motorists and residents were expecting a drop in pump prices following the refinery’s reduction, but retailers in the city are yet to reflect the change.
As of the time of filing this report, petrol stations across Ibadan were still dispensing fuel at the earlier prices despite the adjustment made at the refinery level.
