Reliance Industries, the energy giant owned by India’s wealthiest man Mukesh Ambani, has announced plans to produce 3 million tonnes of green hydrogen per year by 2032. The company also intends to manufacture crucial equipment like electrolysers, solar panels, and battery storage systems internally.
Executive director Anant Ambani described the project as building “the world’s most integrated energy ecosystem,” covering everything from raw materials to electricity and green hydrogen.
Already India’s largest private gas producer, Reliance operates the KG-D6 deepwater block off the east coast in partnership with BP. The green hydrogen initiative is part of the company’s strategy to combine conventional oil and gas operations with renewable energy ventures.
A gigafactory for electrolysers is expected to be operational by the end of next year, accelerating Reliance’s push into the green hydrogen market and positioning the company as a leader in global energy transition.
