has introduced a new national programme aimed at using artificial intelligence and robotics to improve performance in its oil and gas industry.
The initiative, known as “New Energy Tech,” was announced by the as part of efforts to modernise operations, boost efficiency, and strengthen local technical skills in the energy sector.
The programme is designed to bring together professionals and innovators from different fields, including engineers, software developers, researchers, students, and startups. Participants will be tasked with solving real operational problems facing oil and gas companies using advanced technology.
Under the plan, industry operators will present technical challenges, while selected teams develop digital and robotic solutions. Successful ideas are expected to be tested and possibly deployed in actual energy facilities.
Officials say the initiative could help cut operational costs, improve decision-making, and reduce environmental impact by making energy production processes more efficient.
The government also hopes the project will encourage the growth of local tech startups and reduce reliance on foreign technology providers, while positioning Libya as a stronger player in energy innovation.
