NEITI to Investigate $6bn Oil Deals by Foreign Companies

The Nigeria Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (NEITI) is set to review $6.03bn worth of oil deals made by foreign companies like Shell, ExxonMobil, and TotalEnergies.

These companies recently sold their oil assets in Nigeria to local investors.

NEITI wants to make sure the sales followed the right process and that the environment in oil-producing areas is properly cleaned up.

They’ll work with local regulators and the Nigerian oil company (NNPC) to ensure full transparency in these deals and their impact on communities.
