NNPC Gas Marketing Limited (NGML), a subsidiary of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC), is set to acquire a 5.2 million standard cubic feet per day Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) facility from Gas Network Services Limited (GNSL).
This move will enhance Nigeria’s CNG infrastructure, supporting the Presidential Compressed Natural Gas Initiative (P-CNGi) and improving access to cleaner energy.“By acquiring this facility, NGML is advancing the government’s push for more affordable, cleaner energy alternatives,” said a source within NGML.
The acquisition will increase CNG availability, especially for transportation and commercial sectors, and align with national efforts to lower energy costs.
This step is part of broader efforts to promote CNG usage, with plans to roll out over 11,500 CNG-enabled vehicles and 55,000 vehicle conversion kits nationwide. The deal is seen as crucial to expanding CNG infrastructure and strengthening the market.
