NNPC Workers Threaten Shutdown Over External Appointments

Workers at the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) have issued a stern warning to the newly appointed GCEO, Bayo Ojulari, against hiring external candidates for senior management roles.

The National Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG) and Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN) argue that the company has qualified internal professionals for these positions and will resist any external appointments.

The union warned of a potential shutdown if their demands are ignored.
