Nigerian motorists are seeing a relief at the pump as the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) and several other filling stations reduce the price of premium motor spirit (PMS).
At NNPCL retail outlets in parts of Abuja, the petrol price dropped to N915 per liter, down from N920, representing a N5 reduction. Other major retailers, including MRS and BOVAS, have cut their fuel prices more sharply, now selling petrol at N910 per liter compared to previous rates of up to N945 per liter.
Other stations in the city, such as AYM Shafa, NIPCO, Optima, Mobil, Ranoil, and Empire, are offering petrol between N920 and N937 per liter.
The adjustments follow a decrease in ex-depot petrol prices from key refiners, including Dangote Refinery (N824.50 per liter), Eterna (N823), Aiteo (N823), and BOVAS (N822).
This marks the latest in a series of reductions by NNPCL and other stations over the past two weeks. The company has already lowered pump prices twice recently, totaling a N30 decrease from the previous N945 per liter.
Motorists in the capital now have a slightly lighter fuel burden, although prices continue to vary between different retail outlets across the city.
