The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited has increased the price of petrol at its retail outlets in Abuja and neighbouring areas, raising the pump price by N20 per litre.

A market survey conducted on Tuesday showed that NNPCL filling stations were selling Premium Motor Spirit at N1,270 per litre, up from N1,250.

The latest adjustment comes despite falling international crude oil prices and increased petrol supply from domestic refineries.

The Dangote Petroleum Refinery recently expanded its free petrol delivery initiative to 10 destinations, including Abuja, with its petrol priced at N1,185 per litre under the arrangement.

NNPCL’s latest price is also higher than the N1,230 per litre being charged at MRS filling stations following its own N20 increase.

Prices across filling stations in Abuja and surrounding areas now vary considerably. Some outlets, including Empire and AA Rano, were selling petrol between N1,275 and N1,299 per litre.

The latest pump price movement means motorists in the Federal Capital Territory are paying between N1,230 and N1,299 per litre, depending on the filling station.

The increase comes amid a decline in global crude oil prices. Brent crude was reported at about $88.80 per barrel, while West Texas Intermediate traded around $81.86 per barrel.
