In a boost to Delta State’s investment appeal, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has commissioned a new Virgin Forest Energy fuel station in Asaba, underscoring the state’s commitment to private sector growth and economic expansion.
Represented by Dr. Ifeanyi Osuoza, the Commissioner for Special Duties at Government House, the Governor described the commissioning as “a remarkable demonstration of Delta State’s growing reputation as a business-friendly environment.”
Delivering the Governor’s message, Dr. Osuoza said, “Delta State remains a prime destination for investment, offering both ease of doing business and a secure, enabling environment.” He encouraged Virgin Forest Energy to expand further, adding, “We believe that doing business in Delta State will be a rewarding experience, and you’ll be eager to expand even further.”
The station was established by Virgin Forest Energy, a fast-growing player in Nigeria’s downstream oil sector. Its Chairman, Sir Johnson Chukwu, praised the company’s Managing Director and his wife, Lady Nneoma Johnson Chukwu, for her leadership and resilience.
“We started very little in Lagos,” said Lady Nneoma. “Now we have our depot in Akwa Ibom State, and this is our first venture in Asaba. In the next few months, more branches will follow.”
Architect Chike Obiaku, who has overseen the development of several Virgin Forest outlets nationwide, also shared his growth story with the company. “I’m actually an architect, but Virgin Forest Energy has converted me into an engineer,” he said, smiling. “They gave me time to improve, even when I made mistakes. That’s the spirit of growth.”
The event also featured an inspiring keynote address by renowned business mogul, Dr. Cosmos Maduka, who emphasized value creation over monetary gain. “Money is not cash, money is value. What you need is not cash, it’s access and relationships that open doors,” he said.
Dr. Maduka urged young entrepreneurs to pursue integrity and competence, saying, “True wealth begins with service. When you offer genuine value, people reward it.”
In a spiritually charged homily, Most Rev. Dr. V.C.E. Onoh, Archbishop of the Methodist Church, Anambra State, called on attendees to honour God in their journey to success. “If you take God seriously, you have already stepped into wealth,” he declared.
The commissioning was attended by traditional leaders, oil and gas stakeholders, religious figures, and members of the public, all of whom applauded the investment initiative and the State’s role in driving business development.
With this launch, Virgin Forest Energy continues its strategic expansion across Nigeria, with more branches expected soon in Warri and beyond.
