Ojulari, Ekpo Inspect AKK Gas Pipeline Project

The Group Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited, Bayo Ojulari, alongside the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Gas), Ekperikpe Ekpo, has carried out an inspection tour of the Ajaokuta-Kaduna-Kano (AKK) gas pipeline project.

The visit took the officials to the project’s take-off point, as part of ongoing efforts to assess progress on one of Nigeria’s most strategic gas infrastructure developments.

Ojulari, who shared details of the tour on his official X handle, described the AKK pipeline as a critical national project with far-reaching economic importance. He reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to completing the pipeline within the scheduled timeframe, stressing that the administration remains focused on delivering the project as planned.

According to the NNPC chief, the AKK pipeline goes beyond gas transportation, as it is expected to serve as a major driver of industrial growth and energy stability across the country. He noted that once completed, the project will boost industrial activities, support power generation, stimulate local economies, and strengthen Nigeria’s energy security.

Ojulari also praised the workforce behind the project, highlighting the millions of man-hours invested so far and describing the pipeline as a lasting national asset that will shape Nigeria’s industrial future.

He added that the AKK pipeline aligns with Nigeria’s broader strategy of using natural gas as a transition fuel to achieve sustainable economic growth and long-term prosperity.
Earlier this year, Ojulari disclosed that the $2.8 billion AKK gas pipeline had reached about 72 per cent completion as of the end of the first quarter of 2025.

The Ajaokuta-Kaduna-Kano gas pipeline is a key component of Nigeria’s gas master plan and is expected to significantly expand gas supply to northern Nigeria when completed.
