Okomu Oil Brings Amina Maina on Board as New Independent Director

Okomu Oil Palm Company Plc has appointed Mrs. Amina Maina as an Independent Non-Executive Director to join its board of directors. The appointment, which took effect on October 16, 2025, was announced through a notice sent to the Nigerian Exchange Limited (NGX) and will be confirmed at the company’s next Annual General Meeting.

According to the company, bringing Mrs. Maina on board is part of efforts to strengthen corporate governance, improve decision-making, and ensure that Okomu Oil continues to meet international standards in management and board diversity.

The company’s secretary, Chukwuebuka Omerole, said the board looks forward to tapping into her wealth of experience to drive long-term growth, performance, and sustainability.

Who is Amina Maina?
Mrs. Maina has more than 20 years of leadership experience in the energy, trading, and investment industries. She currently serves as the Chairperson of Eyrie Group and has held top positions at MRS Holdings Limited, including Group Chief Operating Officer and Group Executive Director. She has also worked with Ovlas Trading SA, Aurora Energy Trading Ltd, and Energy Solutions Integrated Services Ltd.

She holds a degree in Business Administration from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, and has completed executive programs at Harvard Business School and INSEAD Business School.

Her other roles and contributions
Mrs. Maina is also involved in national economic development. She is a member of the Presidential Economic Coordination Council and serves on the Governing Council of the Midstream and Downstream Gas Infrastructure Fund.

She chairs Next Gen Infraco Limited, sits on the boards of MRS Benin and First Mutual Microfinance Bank, and is part of several professional bodies, including the Institute of Directors and the Society of Petroleum Engineers.
