PowerChina has entered into a new partnership with Nigerian renewable energy company Novel Solar to expand access to affordable and dependable solar solutions across the country.
The agreement was signed during the Nigeria Energy Exhibition and Conference in Lagos by PowerChina’s Global Director for I²-ESS, Sammi Zhou, and Novel Solar CEO, Dahunsi Adewale. Both companies say the partnership is aimed at improving product quality in the Nigerian solar market while accelerating the rollout of clean energy systems nationwide.
Zhou said the deal marks a strategic step for PowerChina as it seeks to strengthen its footprint in Nigeria’s fast-growing renewable energy sector. She noted that the collaboration covers residential installations as well as commercial systems, industrial applications, mini-grids and other large-scale projects.
According to her, implementation is beginning immediately, supported by Novel Solar’s extensive retail network and reputation for delivering reliable solar components across its stores.
Adewale said Novel Solar’s nationwide presence provides a direct link to households, businesses, factories, places of worship and government agencies seeking trusted solar solutions. He added that the company handles both equipment sales and installations for projects such as solar streetlights and home systems.
He explained that the partnership with PowerChina was first initiated earlier in June during an energy exhibition in China. The deal, he said, combines Novel Solar’s understanding of Nigeria’s energy needs with PowerChina’s engineering capacity and government-backed credibility.
Adewale emphasized that the collaboration will help eliminate fake and low-grade solar products from the market by making genuine and durable equipment more accessible to customers.
He also noted that solar remains one of the most cost-effective alternatives to petrol generators, with modular systems that allow users to start small and expand over time as their budget grows.
Both companies say the partnership reflects a shared commitment to improving access to clean, reliable and affordable solar technologies across Nigeria.
