Seplat Ends Routine Gas Flaring in Nigeria’s Onshore Operations

Seplat Energy says it has stopped routine gas flaring across all of its onshore operations in Nigeria, marking a major milestone in the company’s environmental and energy transition efforts.

The company’s Chief Operating Officer and Executive Director, Samson Ezugworie, announced the development during a media briefing, stating that routine gas flaring had been eliminated across Seplat’s western and eastern onshore assets by the end of 2025.

He said the achievement reflects the company’s commitment to reducing emissions and improving environmental performance in line with its sustainability goals.

Ezugworie also highlighted Seplat’s investment in liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), noting that the company is expanding domestic cooking gas supply to improve availability and help make the product more affordable for consumers.

According to him, Seplat’s LPG plant in Sapele, Delta State, is already operational, with the first trucks carrying LPG cylinders dispatched from the facility on April 20, 2026.

He said the company remains focused on supporting Nigeria’s growing demand for cooking gas while strengthening energy access in communities within its operational areas.

Ezugworie added that Seplat will continue investing in oil and gas exploration and maintain its commitment to community development programmes in its host communities.
