Residents of Lekki, Ikoyi, Jakande, and nearby parts of Lagos are expected to experience power interruptions this month as the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) begins scheduled maintenance work on its major transmission lines.

According to a statement by TCN’s spokesperson, Ndidi Mbah, the planned outage will take place on October 11, 12, 18, and 19, 2025, lasting from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. each day. The company explained that the temporary blackout is necessary to allow its engineers to carry out preventive maintenance on the Ajah/Lekki and Ajah/Alagbon 330kV transmission lines.

The maintenance exercise will involve installing a new transformer protection system on the 300MVA power transformer at the Alagbon Transmission Substation, as well as replacing corroded insulators on key towers along both transmission routes.

TCN assured residents that the work is aimed at improving the reliability and stability of electricity supply once completed. The company also apologized for the inconvenience the temporary shutdown might cause customers served by the Eko and Ikeja electricity distribution networks in the affected areas.

This comes a few months after Lagos residents endured a 25-day blackout in July when both Eko and Ikeja electricity distribution companies carried out network upgrades across the state.
