Tinubu Hails Bayo Ojulari at 60

President Bola Tinubu has congratulated Bashir Bayo Ojulari, Group Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd), on his 60th birthday, praising his contributions to Nigeria’s oil and gas sector.

In a statement on Monday, Tinubu lauded Ojulari’s visionary leadership, describing him as “an accomplished energy professional whose distinguished career has been defined by transformative and visionary leadership.”

Ojulari, who assumed the role of GCEO at NNPC Ltd in April 2025, previously served as Executive Vice President and COO of Renaissance Africa Energy Company. Between 2015 and 2021, he held the position of Managing Director at Shell Nigeria Exploration and Production Company (SNEPCo).

The President expressed confidence in Ojulari’s ability to reposition NNPC Ltd as a globally competitive and transparent national oil company, especially as the nation pursues its target of increasing oil production to 1.9 million barrels per day by year-end.

“You have your work clearly defined before you,” Tinubu stated. “As head of NNPC Limited, your mission is to win investor confidence and ensure that NNPC becomes a key driver of Nigeria’s economic growth.”

He also acknowledged recent progress in oil output, noting the increase from 1.5 million to 1.7 million barrels per day within two months.

Tinubu concluded his message with a personal blessing: “I pray God to grant you strength, wisdom, and success as you lead the NNPC Limited to greater heights.”
