TotalEnergies files for approval of €4.5bn offshore wind project

French energy giant TotalEnergies has applied for authorisation to develop a 1.5-gigawatt offshore wind project as part of its push to expand renewable energy operations.

The company said the project will require an investment of about €4.5 billion and is expected to create up to 2,500 jobs during the three-year construction period.

TotalEnergies said the offshore wind development forms part of its broader strategy to strengthen its position in cleaner energy and support Europe’s energy transition goals.

The company did not provide details on when approval for the project could be granted.
