U.S. Tariffs Threaten Nigeria’s Non-Oil Exports – Minister

The Federal Government warns that the U.S. imposition of a 14% reciprocal tariff could disrupt Nigeria’s non-oil exports, including agricultural and manufacturing goods. Industry Minister Dr. Jumoke Oduwole expressed concerns about the negative impact on market access and competitiveness for Nigerian businesses, especially small and medium-sized enterprises.

With over 90% of Nigeria’s exports to the U.S. dominated by oil, the tariff threatens to undermine efforts to diversify the economy.

The government is committed to enhancing product quality to mitigate the tariff’s effects and expand market reach.
