The Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) has announced significant progress on the Nigerian Oil and Gas Park Scheme (NOGaPS) located in Emeyal-1, Ogbia Local Government Area of Bayelsa State, with operations expected to commence in the fourth quarter of 2026.
According to the board, preparations are underway to install a 2.5-megawatt compressed natural gas-powered plant to provide reliable electricity for businesses that will operate within the industrial facility.
The update followed an inspection of the project by senior NCDMB officials, who assessed the level of work completed across the park’s infrastructure. The board said the visit confirmed steady advancement in key areas required for the facility’s eventual take-off.
NCDMB’s General Manager of Corporate Communications, Dr. Obinna Ezeobi, said the project is steadily evolving into a major industrial centre designed to support Nigeria’s oil and gas sector through local manufacturing and service delivery.
Several core facilities have already been completed, including production workshops, a water treatment facility, residential accommodation, training classrooms, an amphitheatre and housing units for trainers and visiting personnel.
The board also disclosed that essential power infrastructure, including transformers, switchgear installations and heavy-duty generators, has been put in place ahead of the planned commissioning date.
As part of ongoing development efforts, contractors have been engaged to reclaim portions of the site through sand-filling activities. The reclaimed areas will accommodate six additional manufacturing sheds intended for investors and industry service providers.
Environmental enhancement and maintenance activities are also continuing across the park to ensure the infrastructure remains in good condition before operations begin.
The NOGaPS initiative was established to strengthen local participation in the oil and gas industry by creating a dedicated manufacturing base for components, equipment and other industrial inputs required by the sector.
The project is also expected to generate more than 2,000 jobs, encourage investment, reduce dependence on imported oil and gas equipment, and contribute to broader economic growth.
The NCDMB reaffirmed its commitment to completing the project in line with its mandate of expanding in-country capacity and promoting Nigerian content development within the energy industry.
