Iran has resumed operations at two units of the Fajr Jam gas refinery that were damaged during last year’s military conflict, according to the country’s oil minister.
Oil Minister Mohsen Paknejad said the affected units, located in Iran’s southern Bushehr Province, have returned to production after undergoing repairs. The refinery was hit during Israeli airstrikes carried out amid heightened regional tensions in mid-2025.
Paknejad explained that two of the refinery’s eight processing units were damaged in the attacks. After technical assessments, repair work was completed within six months, allowing the units to restart operations.
He noted that restoring the refinery is especially important at a time when Iran is facing gas supply challenges. The minister said every additional volume of gas is critical during periods of energy shortage, adding that the refinery’s return will help support the country’s energy needs.
The damage occurred during a brief but intense conflict that began in June 2025, when Israel launched airstrikes on Iranian targets. Iran later responded with missile and drone attacks, escalating the situation before a ceasefire was reached with U.S. mediation.
