Dangote Offers N500,000 Reward to Report Illegal Use of Company Trucks

Dangote Industries Limited has launched a whistleblower programme aimed at curbing the unauthorized use of its trucks across the country, promising a reward of N500,000 to anyone whose information leads to the arrest of offenders or the recovery of illegally transported goods.

The company said the initiative is part of measures to safeguard its logistics operations and stop individuals who use Dangote-branded vehicles for activities outside approved business operations.

According to the company, each subsidiary has designated products that can be transported using its trucks. Dangote Cement vehicles are approved to haul cement, clinker, limestone, coal and high-grade gypsum, while Dangote Sugar Refinery trucks are meant solely for sugar products.

It added that trucks belonging to NASCON Allied Industries are restricted to transporting Dangote Salt and DanQ seasoning products, while Dangote Packaging vehicles are designated for packaging materials and bags. Trucks operated by Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals are approved for polypropylene products, while Dangote Fertiliser Limited vehicles are to transport urea fertilizer.

The company warned that any truck found carrying items outside these approved categories would be treated as engaging in illegal haulage. It added that drivers and owners of such goods could face arrest, confiscation of the cargo and prosecution in line with existing laws.

To support enforcement efforts, Dangote urged members of the public to report suspicious activities involving its trucks. The company advised whistleblowers to provide useful details such as the truck registration number, cab number, vehicle type, location, colour, description of the goods being transported and photographs where available.

Dedicated telephone lines have also been established for reports involving trucks operating from the company’s Obajana, Okpella and Gboko plants.

Dangote stated that law enforcement agencies, including the police, have been empowered to apprehend any driver using company trucks for unauthorized commercial haulage.

The company reaffirmed its commitment to tackling logistics-related fraud, stressing that public cooperation would play a key role in protecting its transportation network, strengthening accountability and ensuring that those involved in illegal haulage activities are brought to justice.
