Dangote Refinery Rolls Out 2,000+ CNG Trucks Ahead of Fuel Distribution Kickoff

The Dangote Petroleum Refinery has begun a major push to transform Nigeria’s fuel supply system with the arrival of over 2,000 compressed natural gas (CNG) trucks ahead of its national distribution launch.

The move, part of a larger plan to deploy a fleet of 4,000 trucks, sets the stage for direct delivery of petroleum products—beginning August 15, 2025—to petrol stations, factories, and other high-volume users across the country.

The refinery’s massive investment, estimated at over ₦720 billion, is expected to significantly ease the cost of fuel distribution, saving Nigeria more than ₦1.7 trillion annually. By absorbing an estimated ₦1.07 trillion in distribution expenses yearly, Dangote aims to cut pump prices, support economic growth, and help curb inflation.

At the heart of this initiative is a plan to eliminate the cost burden fuel marketers often bear, offering relief to over 42 million Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) struggling with energy expenses. The direct-to-consumer delivery model will make fuel more accessible and affordable, particularly for smaller businesses and industrial operators.

The refinery is targeting daily delivery volumes that align with national consumption needs: 45 million litres of petrol (PMS), 15 million litres of diesel, and 5 million litres of aviation fuel.
