Kano Industries Seek Direct Power from NDPHC

Manufacturers in Kano State are set to bypass electricity distribution companies and source power directly from the Niger Delta Power Holding Company (NDPHC) in order to ease the severe energy shortages affecting production.

The move followed a visit by members of the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN), Kano branch, to NDPHC’s Managing Director, Jennifer Adighije. She assured the group that the company was ready to partner with them under the Eligible Customer Programme, provided regulatory clearance and infrastructure are in place.

Adighije noted that NDPHC’s improved generation capacity, boosted by the revival of facilities such as the Omotosho and Alaoji plants, has positioned it to meet the power needs of industries.

Leading the delegation, Ali Madugu of Dala Foods said Kano industries were prepared to buy power directly from NDPHC, stressing that reliable electricity is crucial to revive factories and sustain jobs in the state.

NDPHC executives also outlined a roadmap for connecting manufacturers to their supply network. The company, which plans to release 200 megawatts of stranded power by the end of 2025, believes the partnership could unlock Kano’s industrial potential.
