Dangote Refinery has reignited the Federal Government’s Naira-for-Crude policy, resuming the sale of petrol in Naira after a 22-day suspension.
The refinery slashed its ex-depot price to N865 per litre, a N15 drop from the previous rate, in a move expected to drive down pump prices across the country.
The policy shift, confirmed via a notice to marketers, aims to ease pressure on foreign exchange and strengthen Nigeria’s energy independence.
While petrol is now sold in Naira, diesel and aviation fuel remain priced in dollars.
Industry players say the move will restore market stability and reduce costs for consumers.
Filling stations with supply agreements, like MRS and Ardova, are expected to adjust their pump prices to around N910.
However, some marketers who stocked up at higher prices are facing potential losses.
Experts and IPMAN officials have welcomed the development, calling it a strategic step toward sustainable local refining and economic resilience.
